The Things We Value
Everyone is Welcome
New Story is for everyone. There is nothing you've done, no mistake you've made, no level of selfishness you've achieved, no amount of horrors you've committed that make us blush. It doesn't matter what you've done. We promise we've probably done it too. We are a family of people who believe in the power of a new story. You are not defined by your old story, and we're here to help you begin to or keep writing a new one.
Keep it Simple
It is easy to make certain things about church and Christianity complicated. We get that, and some of what we do is complicated; however, we value making things as simple and as easy to understand as possible. We feel like part of the allure of Jesus was that, at least for those who listened to him back then, he made things fairly simple. We work hard to do the same at New Story.
Authentic Community
At New Story we value authenticity. As we like to say, "We wear no masks." We believe that to be a healthy community we have to be real with one another, even when being honest and real may sting a bit. It doesn't mean we're mean, it just means we are always working to be who we really are with one another and not fake it.
Love God. Love Yourself. Love Others
We believe that we find the Life Jesus promises when we work to reestablish the three basic relationships that seem to have been broken in Eden: Relationship with God, self, and others. In light of this belief, as we like to say, we're relentless in working to love God, ourselves, and others.
